Tyrone is an ASCAP Frederick Loewe Award winning composer/lyricist and writer. His music was featured at New York’s Public Theatre in the Emerging Writer’s Group production of Bliss by Jerome A. Parker which starred Tony Award winner Andre DeShields and Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent).
Tyrone has had writing commissions at TheatreWorks USA, First Stage Milwaukee, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and The Kennedy Center and his play Strong Inside, adapted from the New York Times best-selling book of the same title by Andrew Maraniss, had its world premiere at Nashville Children’s Theatre in 2023.
Tyrone worked with writing teams at The Daily Show and The Colbert Report as part of Chris Rock’s Comedy Central Network TV Writing Program. His short screenplay Overrated won the Action On Film MEGAFEST/Script Summit Screenplay Contest for Best Comedy Short/Web Series Screenplay.
Tyrone adores filmmaking and his short film Un{H}armed, inspired by the 2018 shooting of Stephon Clark, was an official selection at film festivals nationwide including the Big Muddy Film Festival, RKDS Film Festival, New York Short Film Festival, Atlanta Short Film Festival, Hudson NY Short Film Festival, DocuTime Film Festival, and Harlem International Film Festival.
In 2024, Tyrone’s musical Show Way, written in collaboration with National Book Award winning author Jacqueline Woodson, toured the United States on a national tour. The musical was commissioned by The Kennedy Center.
An alumnus of both the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Workshop in New York City and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, Tyrone is passionate about collaboration.
